Pressure testing cooling system

Postby mikes5785 » Fri Sep 28, 2018 7:52 pm

I have a stant radiator pressure test kit but the adapter interface with the radiator is quite a bit smaller than the neck on the radiator. Does any one know of an adapter that would work.

I know that it’s a low-zero pressue system, just want to pressurize it a few psi to see if there’s any internal leaks

Mike :tractor: :help:

New development!!

I found the necessary adapter for my pressure tester to test the cooling systems on my C.

Upon inspection, the original radiator cap I found that it was defective. I ordered a new cap from the local Case IH dealer, they supplied me with a 7PSI cap. I pressure tested the cooling system and found that it held rock steady on 7psi for over 20 minutes.

I then ran a compression test and found the following

cylinder dry psi Wet psi

1 95 115
2 65 80
3 55 65
4 95 120

if I remember correctly this would indicate a leak in the head gasket between # 2 and 3 cylinders, and worn rings in all 4 cylinders.

Mike
