super c steering gear housing

51 super c. serial number 112113. Noticed the other day around the steering worm gear nut that the steering gear housing has been fixed with braze. Was this a common problem? Anyone know why it would break around housing gear nut? I have a guy who possibly has one. Where the steering gear housing the same for wide frt end and row crop frt end? I do not see a separate part when the wide frt end was ordered as an option. Thanks for an insight.

I don't think that housing was a common failure point. Hard to say why yours was broken/repaired that way, probably started with a bad bearing. The housing was the same with either front end.
