Mccormick #39 Tumble Plow

Will a Super C handle it, or would it take at least an H? Thanks

Thomas,

I didn't know what a tumble plow was, so I Googled it and looked at a You Tube video of an H pulling one. The H had three sets of weights on the rear wheels and sounded like it had all it wanted. Don't know if this definitively answers your question or not.

The tumble plow is certainly a unique way to get a two-way plow. :)

Thanks, Bill. I guess another question might be did this plow come with different size plows?
A Super C can handle a double plow, but I can’t recall what size plows they used. Two 12’s or 14’s, but can’t remember which. I actually have one, just got to get to it to measure it.

The direct-mounted 2-bottom plows for the C were either 12 or 14-inch. The number 39 plow, which IH called a "roll-over" plow, came either 14 or 16-inch. The 39 was a pretty heavy-duty plow. Whether a C could pull one would probably depend on which size bottoms it has and even more so on what type soil it is in and how deep you were trying to plow.

Thanks, Jim, that helps
