Does anyone have the cross numbers for the points and condenser for NAPA? Much appreciated. John

Thanks, Shane. I will check it out...rainy last night so I didn't want to get into it. Suddenly old reliable doesn't want to start. Gas coming out of the bottom of the carb (Carter UT I think). Probably a float issue. So I figured since I am going to get into that I may as well do the points as well.

Maybe you can help out on another issue. Fully charged battery and when I pull the rod the starter makes a horrible screech. A couple of tries and then it engages with the flywheel normally. Do you think that is a spring issue in the starter? John

I don't know about the starter issue, I've never really worked on them. Hopefully someone with some starter knowledge will chime in there!

If the over running clutch/Bendix spring were broken, the starter might crank over the engine. My experience, for weeks took multiple tries to start engine, then starter just ran and wouldn't engage the ring gear. Chunk was broken out of the spring.

Pull the starter. Check the teeth on the ring gear. Good time to recondition the starter.
I have an excuse. CRS.
