Do you mean the two petcocks on the oil pan? Have you read the Operators Manual on how they work?

Steiner has them, and though I have not removed one, it LOOKS like it just screws in/out of the pan.

Re: New to me Super C
I saw them on their site. Pretty pricey will probably end up getting one and trying it.
Spent the day messing with it. I filled up the touch control and will see what happens.
Changed the coil out and fan and alternator belts
Picked up some diesel to run in the crank case to clean it out.
Black smoke from the stack when starting, i am assuming I am running rich. Going to rebuild the carb to be safe and will have to look at what plugs are in it and maybe go hotter(any suggestions)?

Re: New to me Super C
If/when you do replace it, would you take and post some photos? I have a friend who needs to replace one of his, and it would help to know if it DOES just unscrew...albeit with a bit of persuasion!!

Re: New to me Super C
Well hydraulic reservoir is leaking. I guess i need to order the o-ring kit
I heard if you took the gear out of the hydraulic pump that you can run it with no hydraulic fluid in there and wont ruin the pump. Is that right?
How do you determine what is a hotter spark plug? I am getting black smoke on startup

Re: New to me Super C
If you want to run it without hydraulics, then remove the pump and put a plate in its place.
Usually the higher the number the hotter the plug. For instance, champion D21 is hotter than the D16
Edit: when you say hydraulic reservoir is leaking, do you actually mean the hydraulic body or the pump?

The body is leaking under the gas tank

Re: New to me Super C
K. Is it leaking from the front of the body where the control rods are?

Re: New to me Super C
If it’s leaking from the smaller rods, then hydraulic body does not have to be removed from tractor. It’s a matter of pulling stuff off front of body, pulling the rod out the front, and replacing oring. Is a little tedious to do it this way, so take a look at manual parts breakdown. Or you can pull body off the tractor. Your choice. I’ve done it, but been several years
