While I haven’t been active on the forum for a while, I have been busy with a couple projects on the SC. I’d been having starter engagement issues and TC oil leaks so I tackled them both at the same time. I ordered a new starter ring gear, a new style bendix, and a TC seal and gasket set. They’re pretty proud of those TC sets, geeze. Anyway I split the tractor using an engine hoist and a crib system, seemed to work alright. Pulled the flywheel and tried to heat the ring gear but that wasn’t working for me, so I ended up nipping it with the acetylene torch. That worked real well, no scars on the flywheel.
The first pic is the new gear installed. The new gear went on with no issues and is tight as a drum after it cooled. Rebuilt the TC box with no issues except none of the new plastic boots for the control rods or cylinder shafts would go on. I replaced a rusted out int/exh manifold that I bought at a nearby tractor salvage yard. …and threw a little paint at the hood, grill, and gas tank. Those pics won’t download, file too large. I replaced the oil pressure gauge which immediately blacked out from an internal oil leak, put the original back on, works great-just a little hard to read. All in all the changes worked out pretty well, the starter starts, the manifold doesn’t leak, the TC doesn’t leak.

Hi Sam, There are a number of members that are in NE Ohio, several not far from me. We used to have some “mini-fests” in Mentor at Mr Hudson’s. That said I’ve made it to Barnyards a couple times usually to pick up or deliver parts via the Cub-vine. Good times.
