Farmall DED3, does not start
Hello everyone, I wanted to ask information about a Farmall DED3. I own this tractor which has stood still for 30 years. I am trying to start it but without success. I state that the electrical system is no longer there and I am starting it with the cables connected to the starter motor. I checked that the diesel arrives through the injectors and it seems so, a little smoke comes out of the muffler but does not want to leave, it does not even make a burst. What can it be? Thank you all

Once in a while, we have a post about the DED-3. But they are not common and replies contain little useful information. I don't know anything specific for that model. Here is one post that may be helpful:

That engine was evidently equipped with glow plugs. I don't know if it will start without using the glow plugs. If your wiring keeps you from using them, that may be your problem.
Low compression can also keep a Diesel from starting. If it has been still for a long time, stuck piston rings may be causing low compression. Badly worn rings could also contribute to not starting. Adding some penetrating oil into each cylinder and letting it soak for several days may help with stuck rings.

Thanks for your advice. In fact, I doubt that the engine does not have enough compression. I'll try to do what you told me, in a few days I'll let you know. Thanks so much

I too, know absolutely nothing about that model but if it is a glow plug equipped engine, as Jim noted, it's not going to start unless you can power up the glow plugs. Apply power to them for about 20 sec., then attempt to start it. Applying power to them for too long can fry the glow plugs, so limit it to 20 - 30 secs.

do not put to much oil in the cylinders, on a diesel that can lock it up trying to compress the oil, diesel can be 3-500 lbs of compression

Re: Farmall DED3, does not start
If your attempting to start it with no battery and just jumper cables, there is a chance that the starter can not get the current that it needs and, therefore, can not spin the engine as fast as it needs to start.
You may need 2 sets of jumper cables!
Now, what is a DED3?

A German built tractor from 1953-1956, about 20 hp. They were never imported to the US. Note that the original poster of this thread is in Italy.
Here may be more than you want to know about it and the related models:

Re: Farmall DED3, does not start
Hello everyone, update: I ordered new glow plugs as one of them is broken internally. Now I'm restoring the electrical circuit, in this regard I ask you if you can tell me where the cable in the photo is connected, it comes from the starter motor. Thank you all.
