On a positive note, after changing spark plugs and wires, my baby roared to life this 18 degree morning! No block heater needed and just a little choke!

Problem solved – finally! It seems that the voltage regulator that I installed was incorrect. It appeared to have resistors on the back of it, whereas the original one did not. My guess is that these resistors plus the external resistor was too much. I installed the new regulator from Brillman today, and it is charging nicely :-)
