IH 3414 plug gap
Hey fellas I'm just looking for the IH 3414 plug gap specs. The plugs are AC Delco R45s. First off will these plugs work I saw somewhere that said delco R 45 I found R 45 at Napa but they didn't have 4 so she had the R45s model which were alittle longer than the reg 45 plug but apparently the s is a code for a little longer thread pattern. Like 3/8 of an inch I hope that's not too long. But I can't find anything on the plug gap except I saw on some thread 26 thousandths I thought that was a mistake because I have never seen such a tight gap on a plug. So anyone with the knowledge please help a fellow IH lover out. Thanks

3/8" may be to long, the piston hitting the spark plug. I would find the correct spark plug.Pops140 wrote:Apparently the s is a code for a little longer thread pattern. Like 3/8 of an inch I hope that's not too long.
I have an excuse. CRS.

AC R45 and R45S would have the same length thread, the S stands for extended tip. My memory escapes me, at the moment, as to the letter designation for the 3/4" reach (threads) plug but I think you should have another letter on them. If the plugs you have are actually 3/4" thread, DON'T USE THEM!

I don't think you'll have any issues with the extended tip, I've switched then back & forth many times, a tractor engine should have a lot of clearance.

Re: IH 3414 plug gap
I think the extended tips were for just delivering the spark a bit deeper in the cylinder, which I would think is better to aid complete combustion! ---Just what I have been told eons ago! thanks; sonny
