What can you put on belt pulley to preserve it and still be able to use it. It looks like it's made of a fiber maybe wood or paper ? :thanx:

I'm not sure about 'preserving' it, but a good coat of belt dressing couldn't hurt. Here's some discussion over on the smokstak forums: https://www.smokstak.com/forum/threads/old-favorite-belt-dressing.144103/page-2

Somebody asked this question on redpowermagazine.com quite some time ago. Someone replied that the guys at Paper Pulleys told him:
You need to take a rag or bush and put 30 weight motor oil all over your pulley it will help preserve it from the weather the sun dry's the pulleys out and the oil will take care of it but I don't like belt dressing because it ten's to build up on your pulley.

My friends in the Cockshutt group have custom made vinyl covers that they put on, when the tractor will set outside. Protects the pulley and looks good. I wonder if linseed oil might be good for this.

The pulleys are paper and I always use linseed oil on mine. The liquid belt dressing has never built up on any of mine. If you use the wrong kind , you could get a bit of build up.
