300 utility, PTO ??

Gentlemen,
Been a while since I was on asking questions, but I'm usually on a few times a month just checking in. Looking at a new toy, a 300 utility. Looks to be in decent shape and runs good. My question is about the PTO. The one I'm looking at does not appear to have TA, and I understand from my research that the TA was an option. The question on the PTO is if it is live, to direct like on the H and M? Everything I find says it has a live PTO with the TA . Maybe it's just how they grouped the specs, but the way it reads is that the live PTO only came with the TA, and a tractor without the TA does not have a live PTO?

Thanks,
Bill

I'm pretty sure thay were built both ways. Which PTO the tractor has should be obvious from looking at it. The IPTO has a big blocky shaped unit on the back with a large shift lever extending towards the right of the seat. The transmission driven PTO looks just like the PTO on a Farmall H. I think it is shifted with a small rod aimed more-or-less straight up.

Some owners, faced with a TA that failed, simply removed the lever. You probably want to look close to see if there actually is a broken TA.

Jim,
Thanks. I'm pretty sure this tractor is a non-TA, and has the regular PTO. I still haven't seen it up close, I've only seen photos, but there's no TA lever, and the smaller, standard PTO.

Thanks again,
Bill
