H Brakes

Postby VinceD » Mon Nov 14, 2016 6:57 pm

Are the brake bands and toggle assembly the same for both sides of an H? Are they interchangeable? If they are not interchangeable, how are they marked? Thanks in advance. Vince

According to parts diagram , they are the same, and will interchange.
The brake drums are different on the earlier H's though.
Drum was changed at serial # 70828

Thanks, Rodney. I was hoping for that answer. The shaft on the toggle seems to have the keyway located differently than the old one. Makes adjustment almost impossible. I will try again tomorrow. Thanks again.

Rodney, quick question. Is that parts manual on the internet or is that yours? I don't have one and haven't been successful in finding one accessible on the internet.

Thanks, John. I checked that site before and apparently didn't dig down deep enough. After reading your post this morning I checked it again and this time I found just what I wanted to know. Although the brake bands are identical, the toggle is not!!! There is a left and right toggle. After your post and link I was able to correct the problem and now everything is once again working properly. Good brakes are really important since we live on top of an Ozark hill and the only way to go is "down hill". Thanks again for your help. Later, Vince

VinceD, my apologies, the part you were calling a toggle was not the same part I was looking at.
