Paint color

Postby Jack » Tue Oct 24, 2017 6:25 am

Hello, when I bought my 300 utility, the paint was in bad shape, I painted it all red with the back rims silver. Now my question. When I got it the tractor the grille and the breather cover and the side of the hood were painted white. From what I have read the 300's were all red, and the 350's had the white.
Am I correct by painting it all red?
Thanks Jack

Yes, you're correct. Red & white came out with the 350.

Here is a photo from the Wisconsin Historical Society collection. It shows the 1955 model year tractor lineup. You can see that there is no white paint in the photo. You can also see that the front rims are silver and the wheel centers are red.

Also I have a C-175 motor and not the C- 169
I was under the impression that that 300's had the C-169 motor and the 350's had the C-175

I'm confused lol
Thanks Jack

The utility would have had one piece wheels that would have been all red.

You sure you have a 300, not a 350? Check some date codes (that aren't on the engine).
