Jim,
I used a ratchet strap to hold the clutch pedal down. This B was converted over to 12V, so the negative cable is held down by one of the mounting bolts for the battery box. Right now, the positive post on the battery is directly underneath the fuel tank. Not idea by any means. The positive cable is 24 inches long, and for the battery to be turn around, it would have to be longer. 24 inches would fit, but it wouldn't leave any extra length for servicing, etc.

Oh, that positive cable. Originally the battery box had a lid to shield the battery connection from the gas tank. John can tell you about that.

I ordered the long rod from Steiner's, plus an oil filter since they were offering a discount on shipping. I install the long rod yesterday, plus an eye bolt to guide the rod. So far it's working and it's hitting now on every pull. I need to go get some small cotter pins, the ones I have are too big.
