B crankshaft
Looks like I will need a crankshaft.
The pulley had pieces missing on it, so I wasn’t concerned about saving it, but the set screw sheared off. So after some cutting, grinding and drilling, I thought I was still grinding on the pulley body, but I got into the crankshaft about an 1/8 maybe. And the damn thing still isn’t off
So I’m thinking about just cutting it off with a bandsaw.
I found this one with a little searching.

Any other sources? I’m not interested in hunting around at sales and salvage yards (at least not yet)

Re: B crankshaft
Wow, they (wengers) are really proud of the one they are selling!

You sure your crank is not still useable?
Maybe stop where your at and think about it before making it worse!
Can you post some pics of what you have?

I’ve moved on. I’m not reusing it. It’s out and in the scrap bin.
Now the only question is a replacement.
Looks like Wenger’s is the best option brought forward so far.

Sorry to hear that!
I dont know how bad it is, but maybe give it away instead of scrapping it!
I just hate seeing this old stuff go!

That’s a good idea, but I’m not going to horse around with that.

Everything I've seen at Wenger's is priced high. Maybe you should check with J.P. Tractor Salvage, they may offer re-conditioned one or may have good used one. I'd certainly shop around a bit.

Re: B crankshaft
If it is just a scar on the length of the front shaft part of the crank where the pulley goes, I would say that with a proper preheat, and filler metal, that crank could be tig welded, and the surface machined back to original!
I think these cranks are forged, not cast!
Anyone know what material IH used to make those cranks out of?

Re: B crankshaft
Steiner has some listed, they have one for $199 but I didn't find much description, maybe a used one. Bearings are $75 more. They show a brand new one $269. There are, of course used ones on Ebay but I'd be pretty cautious about that. You might also check some of the advertisers in Red Power. The brand new one at Steiners seems a far better deal than Wengers.

I didn’t see one on Steiners. I will check again.
Edit....
I’m not seeing anything like that.
