I am purchasing my first A and have owned several B tractors. What is the width of the wide front end and the back. I need to get a trailer and was wondering if it would fit on a U haul car transporter?
Also, are the parts inter changeable between the A and B? Platform, seat brackets, steering column, steering rod, etc.
Thanks.

Is it an A for sure or is it a Super A?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Either way, the rear track is adjustable from 40 to 68 inches (center to center) with the overall width depending on the tire size. The front track is 44 inches and if adjustable can be as much as 70 inches.
Most parts between the front of the engine block back to and including the transmission are the same between the A and B. Steering, rear axle housings, axle shafts etc. are different. If it is a Super A, many if the engine/driveline parts are different.

Cross your fingers the front track is set narrow when you go to pick it up. It wouldn’t be unusual for the axle tubes to be frozen in place with rust.
Once home you can deal with it but if it’s set to wide for your trailer you don’t want to wrestle with it there just so it’ll fit the trailer.
I have a 6x10 landscape single axle trailer with a 3,500lb rating. I’ve moved A’s on it but it seems maxed out. I strip what weight I can off the tractor by removing the wheel weights and putting them in the bed of my pickup.

I didn't know if this was going to be for a parts swap or not, therefore my A or Super A question.

But not too narrow. I believe the U-Haul auto transporters have 2 tracks for the auto wheels and a big open space in the middle of the trailer. I'm not sure whether an A can be set too narrow to bridge the gap.

And with that said you might be better off with a flat bed trailer so wherever the front is set or stuck you can still get it home.
I used a heavy equipment trailer for my Super A that had the 2 tracks and it fit with the tractor set narrow.
