Engine number

Is there a source for determining the year based on the engine number? Original seat with serial plate long gone! Engine number is 6942 DH as far as I can tell. Or are there other part numbers that would give me a verification of the year of production? Thanks in advance for leads! :help:

6942DH is a part number, which is a misread of part number 6342DH. The part number is cast in. The engine number is stamped in on a machined boss just below spark plug number one. The engine number, if the original engine, can tell you the year.

The pad Jim speaks about is on the right side of the block, just below where the block and cylinder head mate.

I have a BN and it has the same serial number as the tractor.

The engine prefix should be FBM
