Front wheels.

Postby Barnyard » Fri Aug 18, 2017 11:12 am

I want to remove my front wheels so I can paint them. Is it safe to block it up under the oil pan?

From what I have seen, they should be silver, but I have seen red ones too. Is silver right?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Don't think I'd block it under the oil pan. If you are willing to do it one at a time, run one wheel up on a 2x6. That should give you enough slack to get the opposite rim off.

Don, I could do one at a time, but since the plan is to paint them, I'd like to do both at the same time while I'm spraying.

I used my cherry picker and a properly rated lifting ring threaded into one of the tapped holes in the front casting to get the front of my B off the ground to spin the bolster around (so that the tire contact patch trailed the steering axis rather than leading it).

I believe they should be silver. I can check in my book, "Farmall Letter Series Tractors", which should have the proper color. Note, Ertl's diecast B has silver front rims.

I'm not sure it's worth cleaning the gun for that small of a job. :D
I'd use a rattle can.
And yes, silver is the color for the rims. Red for everything else.

My Farmall book doesn't say what color the rims should be, but all of the B's pictured have silver front rims if they have a double front. If a single was used, it was painted red.
