Auto insurance
So I think I just purchased a 71 Chevy C20, my question is should I go through my regular insurance company for coverage? It will not be a daily driver, more of a weekend cruiser, probably less than 5000 miles a year. It is A southern truck with little to no rust, cab has been redone and has semi new steel flatbed on it, value is probably around $8000 or so. Does not have original motor, was a straight 6, now has a stock small block V8 in it, truck is all stock except engine. Truck was sold new as cab and chassis only with heavy springs.

Re: Auto insurance
I would go through your regular company. That is how my Camaro is insured.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Auto insurance
Are you going to be using it as a truck or will it ONLY be a weekend cruiser? There are insurance companies that specialize in collector vehicles. They have use restrictions that are aimed at keeping claim expenses low. The restrictions are usually similar to state restrictions on antique vehicle plates. If the restrictions are OK for the use of the vehicle, going with the specialty company can be a better deal. If not, your only choice is to go with a regular insurer. The regular companies tend to not know how to handle collector vehicles.
JC Taylor and Hagerty Insurance Company are two specialty companies. I have used Taylor in the past and currently have 2 insured with Hagerty. Both have good reputations on service and claims. I have AGREED value coverage from Hagerty. Most regular insurers will only write a STATED value policy. There is a huge difference.

Re: Auto insurance
Investigate Jim Becker's suggestion.
Standard insurance, something happens, pay off is based on blue book value.

I have an excuse. CRS.

I use Hagerty for my 1953 Willys CJ3B. Costs me $200/year and I have no usage limitations.
