#2 cart colors

Postby inairam » Wed Apr 22, 2020 6:50 pm

I am usually on the cub forum. Today I picked up this #2 cart. I only got it because if looked to be in good shape to me. Is there a color chart for it?

The only reason I wanted to do it up is I was thinking of using it for a mini hay wagon ride for my niece.

Depending on the year it could have been IH 901, 902, or 935 white. The only color that is readily available though is 935 white, and you can get it at a Case/IH dealer. Quite honestly, the three colors are pretty darn close, and you'd never tell them apart unless right next to each other.

Yours looks like it's from the 1970s, so it would have been 935 white.

Nice find!

Couldn't find this chart last night, but did this morning:

IH Paint Comparison.png

Depends on how close you're wanting to get to original (or a variation thereof). I buy spray can paint from Ace Hardware called Rust Stop. It's in a big 15oz can with adjustable spray nozzle for about $5/can. I've used both the International Blue and the Almond Gloss for IH implements and colors.

Thank you. What about the wheels? They look to be a different color? - or atleast they faded to a different color. Are they yellow?

I do believe the wheels should be white. That looks like a nice original, why paint it?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Barnyard I am starting to think not to paint it.

I have to pull the tires off to put tubes in and I do not like the brown on the wheels. So I was thinking the wheels should be painted if the rubber has to come off.

The wheels were painted the same color, but were probably painted by BFG, Goodyear, etc., separate from the trailer, so they often rust differently. I've had pretty good luck cleaning them up with an SOS pad, or Scotch Bright pad, and getting back to the factory paint. You just have to watch not to cut all the way through the paint on the high points.

If it's original, it will only be original once :D

I recently got an agrafab 17 cu ft dump trailer that looks very much like yours. Same color, what’s left of it. My plans for it are to spray it IH red and put some big McCormick decals on it.
I thought I’d coat the inside with rust converter and Rustolium primer after wire brushing it then give it a coating of spray on bed liner. Don’t know yet if I’ll go black or red with that.
I’ve found that trailer is a pretty good match for the cubs as it’s narrow and follows it through our narrow wooded trails without issue.
