3 Cub Cadets

Interesting dilemma for me today and I need you Cub Cadet enthusiasts to help me out. An offer was made to me to buy 3 Cub Cadets:
1, is a 122 without an engine but all there.
2, is a 128 with a possible mismatched hood and a bent right wheel spindle.
3, is a 1650 Hydro, appears to be the better machine.
All have original IHC finishing mower decks. And they all probably need a little work, but what machine doesn't that hasn't been restored.

My plan was to restore one good machine (maybe two) but I'm not sure which one. I would like for it to be a real workhorse around the place, and with a little wash down, take it to some tractor shows. I know the 122 will generate a little more interest there. We own a '55 LoBoy that we drag around to shows.

Any ideas where to start going with this project? Like I need another project. :D

I'd re-furb the 1650 to use around the place and start on the 122 for a restoration. Save the 128 for later.

I agree. The 1650 is a real work horse.

For what its worth, I do not hear much about 128's ........ :roll:
Had a '57 Lo-boy, and loved it!! Will have another...

Thanks for the feedback Tedd and Bigdog. I think the 1650 is the one to get running with new rings for now (smokes and fouls out), then restore the 122 in the meantime. Is the Kohler engine in the 128 correct for the 122? Also, it looks like Carter & Grunewald has a lot of stuff including vinyl stickums to make it look sharp. I don't know where I put the ol' girl for the teardown, I've got the shop stashed with parts and cab of a '50 International L-110 in restoration.

Forget about fixin that truck, get the Cub Cadets going first!!! Get a sleeve hitch for one and a moldboard plow and you'll be set to attend the world famous cub cadet PD 4.0(plow day) to be held this fall in Iowa.
