sell my 108???

Postby phantom » Wed Oct 24, 2007 9:43 am

a young fella down the road has noticed the 108 i picked up at auction this summer. he has been pulling with cadets for quite a while. says he would like to have my 108. i have never messed with a cadet, but the engine runs well since i put on a diffrent carb. (the one that came with it had a hole in the float) the clutch does not operate. i only bought it 'cause i knew the tranny parts would fit my cub and the starter/generator would fit my other brand garden tractor and the price was lower than i could get the parts for.

here is my question..... i know nothing about the value of a cadet. how much should i ask for it? he is not interested in the mower deck. i'll give that to my son for his cadet.

You know what you paid for it so double that and you can always come down.

That S/G will turn the wrong direction for any other garden tractor. They look the same but you can't change the rotation without changing the fields. The clutch may be fine and you have a broken sproil pin.

Brand new starter/generators on Ebay are around $100 I paid only $89 for my last one.

The average prices on cub cadets were between $100 to $250 thats not running but complete ($100) and running ($250). But lately the prices have gone up drastically here on cadets. There asking $500 for smokers now and around $750 to $1500 for good runners with attachments.

Since i can see your tractor its hard to put a price on it. But i would say $275 to $350 if she a good runner.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

good information. thank you gents.

i suppose i should confess. i bought the 108 'cause it was so cheap at the auction. it was an estate auction and nobody knew anything about the tractor. the good running engine is worth what i paid for the whole thing. while i have nothing at all against cadets, i couldn't afford one when i was younger, so i got into the sears 'custom' garden tractor. a really tough machine that you couldn't dent swinging a six pound sledge. yeah, yeah, it is belt drive, but i've never ever slipped a belt. it's where the rubber meets the ground. thanks again guys.
