NEWS RELEASE
November 17, 2004
The board of directors of the International Harvester
Collectors Club (IHCC) has accepted our application for a Cub Cadet
related chapter to be named Cub Cadets of The North Eastern United States. They have conditionally granted us a full charter, with the chapter number tentatively set at 34. This new Chapter will encompass the 17 states east of the Mississippi River and north of the Tennessee Kentucky line.
The initial proposal was focused on a smaller geographical area,
but it was pointed out that our directors come from several different states in the region, and so they moved for approval with that modification. As with any chapter of the IHCC, the location designation doesn't preclude anyone from joining that local chapter. Our board and membership need to approve this change before we are official.
The idea for a Cub Cadet chapter of the IHCC sprang from the
growing numbers of individuals interested in the tractors, and was
moved along quite a bit with the help of Mark Bowersox, Dave Daugherty, and Tom Peters.
A more recent somewhat urgent need to find an independent plow day site, to obtain insurance to cover events as they grew in size, made an affiliation with the IHCC quite attractive. Although not all Cub Cadet enthusiasts are members of the IHCC, that organization's national board agreed with us that the formation of a Cub Cadet related chapter would likely draw more people into the IHCC whose only interest in IH to date is Cub Cadets.
As per guidelines provided by the national board of the IHCC, we
held an organizational meeting at a recent plow day in Sykesville. At that
time rank and file "interested parties" appointed Dave Daugherty of
Reynoldsville, Pa., William DeTurck of Oakmont, Pa. Joe Rice of
Clarion Pa., Tom Peters of Orion, Il., Scott Cross of Hurricane, Wv. Don Bowers of Ford City, Pa., Hank Will of Gettysburg, Pa., Paul Bell of Louisville, Ky., and Ray Weaver of Stevens, Pa., as the founding board of directors with terms ranging from one to three years. Future board members will be duly elected as per IHCC by laws.
At this point I want to invite anyone who is interested in Cub
Cadets, or in learning more about the history of the International
Harvester Company to become a member of Chapter 34 of the IHCC.
For more information on the IHCC, visit their website at

Thank you
Dave Daugherty
