Seems there are lots of people that sign up only to list something in the vine (classifieds).
I have saw where different site made a minimum of 10 or 12 meaningful posts before someone can post in the classifieds.
After all there is a 2 post minimum before access to the manual section.

Re: Minimum post count
But then a seller would make one post that says "Hi, my name is Luke", and then make a second post that says, "I live in Missouri" There's his two posts. Now we have two meaningless posts to the total forum post count. no matter what the limit is, the poster could just keep racking them up. Some people now do that to get the manuals. We had that same problem when people were trying to get their 501 pins.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Minimum post count
Okay, let's say a new person introduces himself. That is a meaningful post. Then he/she asks when did IH go from red to white and yellow paint. Those are both meaningful posts. Who determines what a meaningful post is?
Originally people just joined and had instant access to the manuals. Folks started downloading them and before you know it, everything that Rudy and Bob worked on was showing up on Ebay or other tractor sites. They spent a lot of time scanning those manuals. How was that fair to them. Therefore, the two post rule was implemented.
As for selling, somebody may have an item another member has been looking for. That helps the forum members. Why hinder them?
I think Dennis has given us an excellent resource here. To ask him to add more work to it, I believe, is a bit much.

That's what I was thinking also. A post in the classified section doesn't count as an "official" post, so I don't see any harm in letting them register just to sell an item. Just my thoughts.

Re: Minimum post count
I don’t see where this is a problem, either. The new Vine poster just might have an unusual, hard to find item, you just never know. Never mind he’s never heard from again.

Re: Minimum post count
Caution must be exercised anytime you conduct business with anyone online where money is exchanging hands. It's even more so when a new "member" lists an item on the Vine. Myself, I probably wouldn't do business with a one timer for fear it was a scammer. Buying from well established members is another story, not that you can't be scammed by them as well, but myself, I'd feel much more comfortable buying from a known, active member.

HEY! Now wait a minute, Barnyard!! Why did you pick on Missouri here?!!

Seriously, it would be a judgement call on the part of the moderator to define a meaningful post; a very subjective criteria. Not to mention heap additional responsibility and work on the mod. I enjoy looking at one-timers posts in the Vine to see what they have for sale, but I'd probably never buy something from such a person.

Yeah, what's the deal? I thought the expression was "I'm from Missouri."

Re: Minimum post count
We are blessed to have the moderators that we have! Why throw more work at them. Deciding what is a valuable post takes more time. I think they have been doing a great job. Who cares if someone joins the forum to list something for sale only one time. It could be the item someone is looking for. It will be their loss if they don’t want to stay. No problem for me. Happy to be a member. This is the Best Cub forum anywhere!

Re: Minimum post count
I thought the 2-post minimum was to eliminate bots and such. Such minimum post counts generally are created to withhold desirable information from a non-member.
I am not a moderator. Are we having an issue with the Vine that needs to be addressed? I would think that the nature of the Vine is such that you would want to expand reader exposure. This area of the site probably attracts new non-members to the site.
