Stan
I recently finished a similar rebuild as was surprised that I could not find 010 pistons. I had to have the block bored to 020 and purchase appropriate (sets of four). I have several standard size but I don't think that would do you much good.

Good luck with your quest

Ron

Stan, refresh my memory. What years was that engine used?
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

My info states that beginning of the CJ3B Hurricane engine with overhead intake valves in about 1952 or 53 until AMC phased out the 4 cyl HURRICANE engine about 1972 or 73. The pistons were the same for the WILLYS & KIAZER GO DEVEL and HURRICANE engines from 1941through the end of production in 1972/73.

Thanks. From what I have learned by researching this topic the .010 pistons were a factory mod to clean up the bores that would not cut out to standard. They also done the same for the crankshafts, using oversize bearings. It's coded by letters that are suffixed to the engine serial number. B is the letter for .010 pistons and the size is marked (stamped) on the top of the piston face. Talk about looking for a "needle in the haystack"!! Just my luck. I have considered getting a .020 piston and checking to see if it could be trimmed down to match the .010 ones that I have. Guess that's a topic for the machine shop to answer. Fortunately I have access to a good ole time shop locally. The owner/machinist has been in the same shop for close to 50 years.

Thanks for checking. It might be possible to weld a plug in the holes. Any possible problems associated with welding that you can think of?

Ron, this is too late to help you but someone else might benefit from it:
