Had a few cantaloupe come in this week and they so good I had to get the sprinkler out to try and get some more to come on. Kids love them as much as the wife and I do. They came over and wanted the sprinkler to get them, so nice of big brother to put little sister in front of him, lol.

Peas and green beans done,--next week I will plant one more late crop of beans and turnips.--might try late radishes too! --still working on onion and potatoe harvest thanks; sonny

I have a few peppers coming in. Red Thai chilies and Tabasco Peppers. The Tabasco plants camp from the nurseries on Avery Island where Tabasco Sauce is produced.

Apple picking time. Neighbor lady stopped by yesterday and picked 20 gallons. Wife and I have picked another 3 gallons, quartered, and vacuum sealed.

This morning dropped off about 1 1/2 gallons at each of the dentist office and physical therapy office.

Going around inviting anyone who wants apples to stop by and pick all they want. Still have around another 20 to 30 gallons still on the tree.

What kind of apples are they? I don't know, semi-sweet and tart. Great for cobbler, jam/jelly, or apple butter.

Edit. Wasn't expecting much for an apple harvest. Apple tree was hit twice with Japanese beetles and then the prolonged, still in progress, drought/dry spell.

We spent all summer together and had a good time. You provided for me, I cared for you but the time came to cut off our relationship. Bye bye 2018 garden.

Still have a few apples on the tree. Picked and pealed enough for a cobbler today. Will do the same tomorrow. Apples are frozen, vacuumed sealed, stored in the deep freezer.

Couple weeks ago a friend stopped by and took some apples. He came back a couple days later and asked if he could get some apples for a neighbor. Stopped by today and asked for more apples for his neighbor, then gave me a 30 lb. watermelon the neighbor grew. Not sure what I'm going to do with the watermelon, thinking have son take it to work.

Told friend that his neighbor could have apples as long as there any still on the tree. I would help pick, just glad that someone can use them, rather than letting them go to waste.

A quick pic. of the freeze dryer and a pic of the peanut row. Lots of nuts set at this time and pods are getting fat, so may have a decent crop of them.
Carrots and beets are ready for harvest.
Peaches and grapes have taken lead since they wont last long if not harvested right now!--one big batch of peaches in the freeze dryer right now.--Just did a batch of muskmelons and they do taste like fresh ones so we know they can be dried .
Trying to get a few things ready for our Central States show next week.--My AC D grader went out today headed for the show.--I won't be there the first day because of eye exam and will not be able to drive after the exam.--Not sure how I will get to the dr. but will figure out something.

About 1/3 of the potatoes were in the 4 pound range this year.---Still got 3 rows to dig, wot a job!!! LOL!!!! thanks; sonny

got the rest of the sweet potatoes dug.
this was the biggest one at 6.5 pounds.----a large amount of the crop were in the 3 to 5 pound range.

Now trying to get ground plowed. Got 1/3 of it ran over with the sub-soiler before the rains came and messed up the ground, so now it will only get plowed . I like to sub-soil 3' deep every other year, then moldboard plow as deep as the plow will go.

Dug the parsnips and they were good this year!--got them before voles/mice. They did freeze several times in the ground.
Not many but really good!

WOW! Your garden must be HUGE! I love the variety of plants that you grow and care for.
What do you do with 4500lbs of sweet potatoes? Not many people feed a football team sized family anymore!
