Well,----It did rain a couple of inches,---Don't know if it did the garden crops good or not but it sure got a bad flush of weeds started again!!
Got a few pix. the other day before the rain.--Temps. that day were 98* and heat index around 115*. Nasty heat here for several weeks.

RR sweet corn, sprayed 2 times for grass/weeds.--today it is tasseling

down the onion rows,--225 feet long and 7 rows to go!

the green beans,--picked enough today for dinner.

This is a kind of an idea where we are today.--did get a bit more rain the last 2 days! thanks; sonny

Our corn is confused. It’s tassling and it’s only about 3’ tall. The sunflower is doing good, we didn’t even plant it.

Our corn is 4 to 5 feet and tasseling, plus setting ears.---this is about average for us here! thanks; sonny

Sweet corn, locally grown, at the farmers market today. Bicolor, 3 ears for $1-. Also sugar baby water melon, and peppers. Vender said that he would have muskmelon the following Friday.

Pulled my garlic. Have it hanging on the front porch drying/curing.

What a difference 4 weeks makes.

Lookin good!!! We have been harvesting peas, greenbeans, broc., summer squash, starting on the short season onions, and sneaking a potato from the norland row!--they are about baseball size, and will be dug as soon as the vines dye down a bit.
Still gotta haul water and the heat index is pushing 120 here.--straight temps. 95 to 99 and humid to go with it!
Have the summer flush of weeds to battle and can only be out a short while in this heat! thanks; sonny

Japanese beetles hit my apple tree, asparagus, and crab apple tree two days ago. Got out the battery powered 15 gallon sprayer. Mixed up 5 gallons of Malathion. Sprayed the heck out of the plants. Watched the beetles drop off the plants.

My apple tree has a moderate number of apples this years. Hoping the malathion does the trick. Don't want to lose the apple crop.

The hot weather fruit drop hit all of our fruit trees so not much left on them.--The jap bugs are still after the trees and grape vines.--I have trap set and have to empty it every few hours.
Potato bugs are the worst ever this year and the spray don't do much in getting them gone.--- The Norlands are close to being ready to dig so in the next few days that job will get done.
Weeds are about to take over. Did get a quarter inch of rain overnight here.--Still hauling water because down 2 inches the ground is flower dry.---all the little rain does is bring more weeds.
Green beans were picked the first time a couple days ago and got over 50 pounds from 2 short rows here by the window. 4 heads of cabbage are ready to use. yellow summer squash are in full production at this time.---Did manage to give some away.---Took some to an auction Sat. and passed them out to the crowd.---Didn't know so many people liked veggies!!!
Got a couple new engines for TB tillers that had non running engines on them. Now have 45 working TB tillers and 1 Simp. to cultivate with.--( Now IF I had some operators, the job would go fast). I can only run 1 at a time, but all of them get used during the season.
Had to spray the RR sweetcorn twice this year and so far it looks clean. all of the sweetcorn has tasseled out and set ears. thanks; sonny

Had a bad storm this afternoon and the wind laid our corn over. It does this every year, it was getting close to ready. It always makes our 2 goats happy I’ll trade the laid over corn for the 1.8” of rain we got

We only sprayed our potatoes once this year. Had a very cold winter, maybe this helped, last year bugs were very bad. Used Spinosad
spray. Still have a few spuds left from last year, but could use new if needed.

dang SONNY I wish we could send ya some.
We ended june with a total of 28'' of rain
1.9'' in 60 seconds ,,measured at Michigan Tech during that storm a few weeka ago
we still are putting roads back in place
just think if all that water was snow
the farm is going great so far this year

28" is a lotta water!! LOL!!! We did get a couple sprinkles last week, but still dry under the spuds!--Dug the Norlands and got 200 pounds from the 10 pounds that was planted.---Bugs have destroyed the Pontiacs and Nennebecs. Did dig a plant of each and it looks like there might be a few nice ones despite the destruction.
Greenbean second picking was over 50 pounds again and will probably be the last picking for them. plants are not doing well.
Squash not doing well either. wilted vines are all over the gardens. might be fungus due to the dew/muggy hot weather we are under right now.-- Today 99* and heat index at 126*. can't get much done and weeds are getting WAY out of hand!
Tomatoes have green fruit set and most of them look ok.
Sweet corn is filling the ears and might make corn.
