straw berries are starting to set berries on them ---frost didnt get all of them.
Rained out for now ---- need to transplant tomato plants and the rest of the seeds when it dries out again. Looks like it is going to be a long time before that happens since it been raining for 2 or 3 days here. Ground really soggy now.

Rabbits and birds kinda afraid to stick their beak in the cones---they think its a trap so for the most part leave the plants alone. I take them off when the plants get bigger and tougher ----- usually works!

I worked in my garden for about 3 hours this morning. I did a bunch of weeding and set out and staked 22 more Cherokee purple tomatoes. I found my first tomatoes of the season today.

Planted some of the tomatoes out of the hotbed last night, some had buds on them, so hopfuly they will make it. Started hilling the potatoes,-- got 4 of the 10 1/2 rows done, big job but gotta be done. Will hill them 1 more time later on. Need BIG mounds here for them to put spuds in!
A few more of the early planted seed is coming up, parsnips never did. --- probably was UN-TREATED seed! Nex year I gotta get my own seed treat stuff and make sure all seed I buy is treated!

I irrigated the garden yesterday and that had things in good shape to put 53 stakes and 53 tomato plants in the ground this morning. I’m taking a break until this evening because is 92 now and supposed to get even hotter in the next hour or two. I’ve got to put 13 more stakes and plants in to finish this batch. I hope to put in two more plantings of about 75 plants each about two weeks apart. I hope to have a couple of rows ready to set out peppers in the morning. I have 150 to set out. Bells of all colors, jalapeños, and banana peppers. We are supposed to get some rain this weekend which will be nice as our area is under moderate drought conditions. I can irrigate my garden in town so my tomatoes are good but the garden at my farm sure need the rain. My first round of corn, beans, and peas are up good but need rain and my second round that was planted last weekend needs some just to germinate. I hate it’s going to rain on a holiday weekend for those with outdoor plans but as an avid gardener and budding farmer I’m hoping it rains

We were hot and dry last week---- it has cooled down this week and we did get a few light rains the last 2 days ----still have to water the onions cause its dry around them yet!
Picked/weeded the strawberries yesterday and making jam today, 4 quarts so far and about half done. Early it looked like the flowers froze but the later ones made berries, so we have a few this year -----nice runners coming out so I might expand the patch and make strips thru it so I can pick and weed them easier.

Got over 8 quarts of jam from the strawberries that I picked a couple days ago and it did set up good this time!
Might have gotten around a half inch of rain total this time, still cold North wind, kinda like during blackberry winter.
Beans and corn in the ground so hope it sprouts and not rot!
About have the tractor fixed again so when it does dry I can till again and plant the melons and pumpkins. The 340 blew a hydraulic line under the seat, and made a mess!
Ground was tillin up nice this year so far.

We are going all-in this year with a full organic haskap orchard and market vegetable farm ... I hope we can get our 140 working well to help with in-row cultivation!

Got hot/dry here now no rain in sight so been hauling water.
Still getting a few strawberries and so far have made 38 quarts of jam and 1 quart bag of berries went into the freezer.

Most of the garden is planted----still have some late tomato plants to put in and a few eggplant plants.
Potatoes are waist high now, cabbage starting to grow good. Onions bulbing up. Been hauling water to them and the cabbage, kinda hot/dry here now.
