lesser grain borers.

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Fri Aug 19, 2016 8:17 pm

I modified a broadcast seeder made for an ATV to fit my ZTR, to use around my place, and have also used to to plant food plots for my neighbors. Today I was going to plant some wheat for a neighbor, and when I dumped it into the hopper it was full of small black bugs about 1/8 to 3/16 inch long that I think were lesser grain borers. It didn't look like there was a single good grain in the batch. Had it been mine I would have burned it or thrown it away, but he wanted to go ahead and broadcast it bugs and all. I figured it was a waste of time.

Probably should have burnt the wheat to eliminate the bugs and eggs. Fumigate the area where the wheat was stored.
I have an excuse. CRS.
