The pto shuts the mower off if you had one. You can run the hydraulics off the live pto shaft I’m not sure if your replacing the support bearings on the shaft.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

I've got two new support bearings on order. Why not, while I am in there...

No mower for me, as this is strictly a loader for now.

Everything is back together now. I had the pilot bearing on the new hamiltonbobs clutch eat itself, but I just fit the replacement from mcmaster and I am sure it is right. I put the clutch together on the tractor so everything is aligned, and it spins nice an freely when the clutch brake isn't hooked up. Hopefully it lasts.

I got an Oilite bushing. I think the one on the clutch was just a plain bushing, but could be wrong.

I was trying to follow the topic and it took a while. It appears that you have installed an electric power steering assist (mentioned in another topic) and shown in your link. The unit which was bought recently appears to be a fully hydraulic unit which in some way, drives the clutch or replaces it. It is altogether interesting, Mr. Toe.

Close! It's a hydraulic steering system I built out of ebay parts. I'll start another thread at some point to give instructions.

Is that a John Deere 318 power steering valve?

[Edit] Just looked up the part number on the tag, it appears they were used on the John Deere 318, 322, 420, 430 and probably more. My Dad was just talking about his 318 over the weekend and I had been looking at pictures of their valves. He tells me he only has a PSI of about 600, and our tractors I believe are 1500.

Hey, sorry for the delay in reply.

The eaton valve used on those deere models is rated to 1800 PSI, so it can handle quite a bit. Even still, you need to add a relief valve for when you accidentally hit the steering stop, etc. If you don't, the valve will blow (ask me how I know :).

I used a relief valve set @ 1500 PSI.


My steering has been working great. I haven't been using my tractor too much this fall due to the rain. If I drive it on my lawn now, it leave very large ruts due to the wet ground.
