IH-54 Blade Installation

Postby Wageslave645 » Sat Nov 17, 2018 2:21 am

So in preparation for snow season, I went ahead and installed the snow blade that came with the machine when I bought it. About 2 hours and many curse words later, I managed to get everything installed and working properly. The manual on the site was helpful, but is there an easier way to mount the blade than having it disassembled into 3 pieces? This is my first time trying and I am curious how others do it.

Also, does anybody know the size of the blade angle adjustment pin? That piece was missing on mine, and I didn't have any random bolts that would fit without a bunch of slop.

Thanks,

Not sure about the size of the original pin. I am using a hitch pin that is 5/8” diameter with a usable shaft length of about 4”, and it works fine.

5/8” has the shape of a bent L, I welded a flat washer to adjust how far it goes into the hole.

Story, true,,

I went to a big mom n pop place that sells plows ect. They were busy as I walked in. I wanted extra pins for the lower attachment of my Myers plow. The guy working there say out loud you have a better chance of getting waited on at Walmart. The guys standing there laughed. I fired back with my money is good anywhere. It got quiet. I went home grabbed some 5/8 stock and the torch and made them. There not orginal but they work.

Cool, I should be by Rural King soon to pick up a couple things anyway and I will definitely pick one up.

Thanks!

Hints... Don't bother to remove the supporting brackets from the front end of the tractor. They can stay there year around.

I was keeping the lift rods and the front pivot bracket on the 154. I just pull the cross rod and vertical lift flat steel with the plow.

I got my pin bought and put in, and pushed some dirt around today. Working pretty well now.
