Unknown Bracket purpose

Postby rcupka » Mon Apr 01, 2019 8:46 pm

I have a new to me 1972 154 with a 3160 deck. I just got it running, driving and today engaged the deck. All worked well, but on the left side of the frame just in front of the lifting link is a bracket that looks like vertical pipe with a rubber handle on it. I am not sure of the purpose, is it some sort of an up stop?
I have attached an image to show you what I am asking about.

That's exactly what it is.

Also stops the greese fitting in the center pulley from drilling a hole in the oil pan,...Don't ask.

I will check that, I noticed a screech sound when I raise the deck all the way

Check your Operator's Manual, hydraulic lift section. There is a adjusting screw with nut that limits the height or depth of the mower deck movement.

The adjusting screw is in the very upper left of your photo.
I have an excuse. CRS.
