184 LoBoy PTO clutch removal?

Apparently the struggle to remove the PTO pulley and bearing on my 184 has killed the PTO clutch. It will not engage even with a jumper.

It appears to have a 5/16 retainer bolt and tapered and keyed hub. I was told to remove this bolt, and the hub is threaded
internally for a larger bolt (5/8). Screw in this bolt, with a spacer, and it will break the taper and push the hub off.

Anybody else done it this way, or have a better way?

Anybody have a used one? New is gold at $400!! Who makes them?

Thanks!!

Sorry, I haven't had mine out yet. The most I have done with it is replace the belts and the idler pulley bearing (tensioner)

@LarryB
Where is that checked from? Between the two spades on the plug?

Yes, it would be measured across the two spades (when disconnected)
