154 driveshaft length

Postby ford141 » Mon Sep 30, 2019 12:34 pm

I see that Hamilton Bob lists 2 lengths of driveshafts for a 154 without a creeper, a 29" shaft and a 31" shaft. How do you know which one you need? I am removing the creeper from a 154 and would like to know if the spare driveshaft that I have will swap in.

I'm not certain, but the parts manual seems to have a lot of differences listed between the lower and higher serial number tractors. The breakpoint is serial 21491 and below or 21492 and above. Since the listing of part numbers do not describe the length, the best thing you can do is pull the existing driveshaft out and measure it.
Here's a crazy idea.... Call HamiltonBobsCubs and ask them. I doubt anyone has more experience parting out these numbered loboy tractors than they.

It depends on where the pto pulley is. If it’s on the drive shaft it’s the longer one, if the pto pulley is on the engine flywheel its the shorter one.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

That makes sense. Both of the 154s have the pulley on the flywheel so I should be good to swap. Thanks!
