When I took my newly acquired 154 transmission out, I noticed the engage lever was pretty mangled and cracked. I know you can buy one for $12 from Hamilton Bob (who I highly recommend for numbered cub parts) but with the stay at home order, I have lots of time so why not fabricate a replacement.
After looking at a picture of what it is supposed to look like, I straightened it out to make a pattern. I also found a suitable donor (mower blade) to make it out of.
I cut out the material, fine tuned the shape and drilled the mounting and spring holes. I also brazed a grade 8 washer on each side of the pull rod hole to cut down on the wear.
I'm pretty happy with the results.
New project is a new battery tray as there was only rusted ends left.
