Voltage regulator

Postby Crasher » Sun Oct 04, 2020 1:36 pm

Hi, my first time posting to the forum. I have a 1959 ( S/N 10967 J) Cub Lo-Boy. Batt not charging. I have tracked the problem I believe to a bad voltage regulator. My problem is finding a voltage regulator that will work with the 3 brush 6v generator on the tractor (Delco Remy Model 1100531 9C5)
All the regulators I find specify for 2 brush generators. The wiring on the tractor has 4 wires (Gen, Field, Battery, lights) The tractor has a factory brackett below the generator for the regulator to mount on. The old regulator was mounted here.

I would appreciate any help - Thanks

Crasher,
The moderators will move this post to the correct forum. You have an International Cub Loboy not a numbered series Loboy. From the factory this year tractor would have been 6V Positive Ground.

Stay with a US built voltage regulator if at all possible, usually the more expensive units.

Finally found my receipt for the NAPA Echlin voltage regulator I bought in December 2014 for my 1957 Farmall Cub. Generator was rebuilt by a local guy working out of his garage, used by a lot of people. New brushes, bearing, bushing, turned the armature in his lathe, and tuned the voltage regulator to the generator. Even painted the generator in choice of black or red. Going on 6 years now and still works great.
