Ralph and Connie Need Our Help

Postby Don McCombs » Sat Apr 11, 2020 6:43 pm

Most of you know Ralph Napier and his wife, Connie. For those who may not, Ralph has been a long time member of this forum. For many years he operated a small business, salvaging Farmall Cub parts and selling them to forum members and others to help with repair and restoration projects. This labor of love has helped many across the country and even beyond, to keep these little tractors going and remain productive.

Ralph and Connie are currently facing some serious medical challenges that we can help out with. Ralph had a major stroke this past July and Connie experienced a heart attack in December. Please join with me in helping to provide the means for Ralph to regain some of his mobility by providing the funding necessary to purchase an electric scooter and constructing a wheelchair ramp for him to get out of the house.

A GoFundMe site has been set up to help facilitate meeting this goal. You will find the link to this site below. Thank you, in advance, for your kind generosity.

A big thanks to Don for taking the lead on this. Not long after my post about Ralph and Connie, Don asked me if this would be a good Idea. I know Ralph and Connie pride themselves on helping others, never expecting anything in return. My only request to Don was to allow me to contact Connie for her approval. She almost cried (actually I think she did). She said she was most appreciative that the forum members would think so highly of Ralph as to want to do this. I reminded her that Ralph thinks highly of us, all of us, and this is just a small token of our appreciation.

Ralph has helped me way beyond expectations when I first started with my Cub "accumulation". I am way beyond happy to help him now.

Bill and Don, would it be possible for you to post a mailing address to send a contribution for this fund raising ?
I'm still behind times and more old school so I have no way of helping by sending payment online. I'm sure there's many ole country boys here who are the same way. Ralph has always been very helpful to all of us so please let us all help out.

Thank you, Yogie

Thanks Don, Ralph and Connie are very deserving.

One year at Cubarama there was a man there with a complete set of wheel weights for sale. At that time I had none on my tractor. Ralph says "Hey Ken you need these" and proceeded to bargain for the weights. They came to a great price, $225 I think. I said "But Ralph, I don't have that much cash with me". No problem, he pulled out the cash and paid the man. You can pay me later. We loaded the weights into my truck and I sent him a check when I got home.

That's the kind of guy that Ralph is.

Yogie, I'm sure if you PM Don he will send you his address and how to make out the check. When Don first approached me about this his idea was to send checks to him and he would put it into a fund. Then the Go Fund Me came into play which sounded better. I'm sure Don will accept personal checks sent to him.

Thanks you all for your outstanding generosity. When I established the GoFundMe site, I set the goal very low because I had no idea what to expect. So far the response has be unbelievable. But, I think we can do much, much better for Ralph and Connie. To that end, I have raised the goal as a challenge to the rest of the membership. Please open your hearts and dig deep for these two wonderful people who need our help.

Yogie, I sent you a PM. If anyone else would rather not use the GoFundMe site and donate directly, please feel free to send me a PM. Thank you.

I think about Ralph regularly and I'm happy to send some help. I'm also happy to be the guy he's "pulling" in the cover photo of the GoFundMe page. At each of the Barnyard Bashes I've attended, on that last Saturday afternoon, without fail, Ralph would show up and answer all the questions, settle all the arguments and provide the missing bit of knowledge holding up anyone's project. And he'd do it with a smile and a twinkle in his eye. The man's a legend and he and his family deserve everything we can do for them.

I'm amazed by the overwhelming response from the members of this forum. My plan is to leave the GoFundMe site open, at least through the weekend, to provide an opportunity for anyone who hasn't seen the appeal yet. Many, many thanks to those who have already donated. Every donation gets us closer to our goal.

I'm going to be late to the party. My credit card got someone trying to use it, so I've been waiting "3 to 5 days" for a new one. As soon as it arrives the GoFundMe site will be the first use.

A little tip about the gofundme tip block. I believe it automatically charges a 15% tip when you donate. You can change that to any amount you want.
