Finally Home

Postby Barnyard » Tue Mar 07, 2023 11:03 am

Well as you all know, I am finally home and resting. Last Sunday I had developed diverticulitis again, a perforated colon and an abscess near the colon. Meds could not control the abscess so on Wednesday they ran a tube into my belly to remove it. From then on it was a lot of antibiotics and so forth. I will visit with my surgeon in two weeks to see what I need to do to prevent this again. I still have an after taste in my mouth of all the different meds they pumped into me. Rosanne said that may last for a few days.

A hi-lite of my stay was Friday morning when the stork flew by my fourth floor window and pointed out my two new granddaughters he was delivering to my daughter who was on the second floor.

Yesterday being my first day home from my hospital stay I decided I needed to take longer walks then from my bed to the bathroom so thought I would try a trip to the mailbox. Rosie walked along side of me just in case. I made the round trip with no problems and was enjoying the great weather. As we reached the porch Rosanne asked if I wanted to rest a minute in one of the rockers. I thought, why not, I have never used them since we bought them almost twenty years ago. That minute turned out to be almost two hours of watching the world go by. I was hardly the type for taking breaks, but time has a way of telling you to relax and enjoy your day. I have been listening. You never know how many of these great days are left.

As for now I am curtailing my activities but hope to be back into more Cub activity by mid April.

I want to thank Don McCombs for being my spokesman while I was off line.

I want to also thank each and every one of your for the thoughts and prayers during this time.
