Update: Ryder Allen Lee Smith came into the world a little after 2:00 this afternoon. He weighs 1lb, 5oz, and is 13 inches long with a head full of black hair. All of us were pleasantly shocked that the little guy has a very strong heartbeat and is breathing on his own. Momma is doing fine as well and is recovering not only from the surgery, but also from toxemia. She is recovering well, though.
Doctors say when Ryder gets up to 4lbs he can go home. He's not out of the woods yet, but he is in our world and appears to be a fighter. Please keep your prayers coming, as he still has a ways to go. And thanks for all the positive thoughts so far.

Great news John, Thanks for the update, and we will keep praying for them both. (and Family)

I bought an old tractor all dusty and worn,
knew nothing about her just the year she was born
I washed her and greased her and painted her red
Now she lives happily right here in my shed.

Just got an update from Ryder's grandma (my sister-in-law). Ryder is still doing well, though they did finally have to put him on a respirator. Seems the little guy is very active and the docs think he wears himself out moving about as much as he does. After his lungs quit on him once, they decided to take no more chances and put him on the respirator. His daddy visited him today and he kept pulling his own nose tube out. Doctors and family alike have branded him a fighter. Keep your good thoughts coming, please.
