Pro Tip For Absent Minded Mechanics

Postby ricky racer » Sat Aug 27, 2022 2:50 pm

If you're anything like me, you spend as much time looking for the wrench or screwdriver that you just had in your hand, as you do getting the work done. Or you're always looking for a spot to lay the screws you just removed from whatever you are working on. A quick stop at a Harbor Freight store near you can alleviate some of those frustrations.
Harbor Freight has some magnetic trays that have rubber coated magnets and a rubber protected edge that rests up against the surface it's placed upon. They offer several different sizes. I have the one pictured plus another one slightly larger. These might help you out, if you can remember where you put them.

The description of an absent minded mechanic fits me to a tee.

If I purchased the tray I would not be able to recall where I placed it after using it, or may be upon purchasing and placing it on the shelf. Most likely I would forget I purchased it and upon finding not know what it was.

Up, sounds like me.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I'd forget it was stuck to my tractor!!

But I DO like the idea! Always good to have an excuse to buy tools, etc!!

I have their magnetic drink holder (on tractor), plus paper towel holder and disposable glove box holder on my toolbox.

I’ve used magnetic trays for several years, mine are always sticking to the door of my spark plug cabinet. I have several of each size.

Dave, the ones I picked up I actually found at a garage sale. It looks like the newer ones are a bit different.
