Iron City Tool Works

Postby PVF1799 » Sun Jun 21, 2015 7:05 am

I was poking around in our English Barn looking for something quick to restore. I happened upon this old pickaxe with a broken handle. Into the cabinet it went - when it emerged all cleaned up - there was an Iron City Logo inside a star forged into the side of the pick side.

I am surprised at how little information is on the internet about Iron City Tool Works. Dad knows the pickaxe in question - says it's been there his whole life. ICTW - started in the 1860's. Since my family has lived in the same place since 1799 - perhaps this tool came to our farm well over 100 years ago. It's all painted up in Flat Black. New handle goes in this week.

I haven't seen an Iron City logo in 45 or 50 years. The last one I saw was on an Iron City Beer!
