Anyone experiencing popup ads on the site? This kind that take up the whole screen on my phone and dies not give a close option. Very annoying. Just started a few days ago

Re: Ads
I haven't noticed them on my phone, but when I sit at my laptop, I can see them. I guess that's the cost of having this forum unless the moderators want to start charging people. I'd gladly pay for access, but I understand the appeal of 'free' access.

Re: Ads
I don't have a smart phone, but on my computer I use Adblock plus, and it works great. I assume there is something similar available for phones.

Re: Ads
We do not utilize pop-up ads on this site (I hate them too). It would be rare for one to slip past Google Adsense, however, If you do find one, PM me all the info you can and I'll block it if possible.
Also, if you are experiencing popup ads, they could come from other sites you have visited before Farmallcub.com, rogue browser plug-ins, malware, etc. Try a reputable malware and anti-virus scanner to clean things up.
Dennis
PS: The most ads you should ever see on one page (besides the sponsors) is three, and that is only if you are not logged into the site. Otherwise it is two.

Probably comes with a free virus attached too.

Happening on my iPhone, so no, no antivirus. I realize there is a first time for everything, but in roughly 12 years of using apple products, I've never had a problem with viruses. I still say it's not my phone. This ONLY happens when I visit farmallcub.com. It's not all that big a deal. Just an annoyance

Thomas,
I get the same thing or similar on my I-phone SE, primarily when I'm on the Red Sox MLB website. Can't close it out either.

Re: Ads
Do not believe that because you have an I-phone you do not need an antivirus. For years Apple claimed that there were no viruses on their products, but it was because they had such a small share of the market no one bothered to write them. With I-Phones becoming very popular viruses are now being written specifically to attack them. So far the most common ones I have heard of were location specific ads, but the software to trigger it was installed in the phone when visiting another site. it may trigger due to your location as reported by your built in GPS, or as to a site you visit regularly and it comes on then.

So far, Paul and Ringo have arrived. John and George were supposed to follow ages ago, but apparently have gone awol. Long story. - Circle of Safety: Y
Re: Ads
Yes, I am having this issue as well.
It happens only on Farmallcub.com.
I have 40 tabs open right now to various things I have been looking at. Most of these tabs have been open multiple days. I can’t leave farmallcub.com open long term any more, or it will go to the ad. It will hijack the entire page and redirect me elsewhere with a pop up. See a couple screen shots below. Doesn’t do it every time, or at least it can take a while. Sometimes it is quick to redirect me. Sometimes not.
And just so we’re clear, this only happens on tabs open to farmallcub.com.
I feel like one of the ads that cycles through the pages is the culprit, but no idea how to prove it.
This started for me the evening of March 9. This is all on a an iPad. Haven’t used anything else on the forum since then, but just opened up a few farmall pages on the Mac to see if it does the same. Haven’t seen anything yet, but it hasn’t been long, and macOS doesn’t behave identically to iOS.
John posted something about slow page loads, with something hanging for a few moments. I wonder if it is connected to this? His computer hangs when this is trying to do its thing, but something in his system refuses and eventually he gets past it? Dunno. Just a thought.
Whatever it is, it is extraordinarily annoying!
Edit: it is simple enough to get out of. You can just close the tab and open a new one. That’s another reason I don’t think this is a virus at my end. It only occurs on this site and it doesn’t hold me hostage in any way.
