IH Danco C-2 fast hitch mower

Got a project that you are working on that is not a tractor? Maybe a barn to hold your tractors or just fun stuff like woodworking, glass, tools, sheds, gardens, custom implements, etc., this is the place to talk about it.

Got this apart. I bet it made a racket when it came apart. I need to find time to go see the man and see what he wants for one of the decks before I gather up stuff to make one.

I’m just gonna sharpen the ones I took off. It won’t see a whole lot of use anyway. The only place I could find them was IH as well and they are $83 each.

Finally got everything apart. There’s nothing else I can unbolt or heat up to get apart. How about that brass piece? Looks like a ferrule to me.

Got another spindle. I bought a couple things the other day and sold part of it for more than I paid for all of it and traded what was left for this so I got paid and got this. God is good! This thing has great blades on it, one side looks new and the skids are in good shape as well.

The carriage bolts that hold the blades on are an odd size, I think 7/8". Hopefully yours are in usable shape, or I'm sure we'll see pictures of the new ones you made. :D

I’ve had 3 of these decks pass through my hands. All 3 have had different tags. This parts deck is obviously the earliest by serial number.

Was able to get the big nut off without messing anything up on this newly acquired spindle.

I put some thread cutting oil on it and it came right off.

The other one grabbed some threads on the way off and left a mess.

The old spindle has a bolt in the bottom where the newer spindle is welded.

I only need one, I'm gonna use the good one. If I had to use the bad one, I would probably cut the weld off the bottom and remove the shaft and weld those threads up and rethread them on the lathe.

I’m guessing they changed the spindle shaft because the 2 dowel pins would shear easily, just a guess.
