Deep South CubFest update

Postby Maine-iac » Thu Nov 19, 2020 5:10 pm

Well, IH family, we were hoping to host one final DSCF in February 2021 as a celebration of Dad's life and some of his most favorite people. Given the continued escalation of COVID, we have decided to cancel the event to do our part to keep everyone safe and healthy. We are so incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love, support, and memories shared since our superhero Dad and friend passed away in July. A special thanks is due to Billy Ray, Raymond, Tim, and Jim for their ongoing support in coordinating the DSCF for so many wonderful years. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness, and continued support in making Dad's dreams of hosting the "best ever" Cub Fest a reality! As he agonized over the various ways he could make each DSCF better than the last, we were all admiring his greatness every step of the way.

We wish you all a safe and joyous holiday season!

With Love,
Teresa and Matt Fecteau and the Edenfield Family
Matt Fecteau

Theresa, Rosie and I understand your concerns. I am sure, when that day in February comes around, you will feel our presence in the air.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Thank you very much for all the great memories of Deep South , I consider myself very fortunate to have attend for several years . I was always greeted with a big southern welcome and he went out of his way to make sure we had an enjoyable visit . I am truly saddened at his passing , my prayer is that all of your family can find peace and comfort in the wonderful memories of Roy .

I agree with Barnyard and I, too, miss Mr. E.

DSCF was my first and "BESTIST" cubfest! With so many wonderful folks there, and hosted by the greatest, most generous group, it will surely be missed, as well as every one who attended. But most of all, I will truly miss that welcoming smile and hug that Mr. E always greeted people with. Sigh...

Thank you for even contemplating a 2021 DSCF. Of course I'm disappointed that there won't be one, but completely understand. A lot of the forum members are in the "susceptible" age group. Roy came out to a lot of my Cubfests and was always a pleasure to be around.

Teresa, Thank you for update! We fully understand, with this being the craziest year ever. Regina and I attended and, very much, enjoyed all of the Deep South Cubfests. We will miss them but mostly we'll miss Mr. E and all he was to our Cub community.

Have to share a humorous conversation Mr. E and I had a couple of years ago as we chatted I asked Roy “what are our wives going to do with these tractors when we pass away? “ with that infectious smile of his his response was. “ mr. Dusty, our obituary will read service at 10 Auction at two!”. I still use his response when friends question me about the number of #. Cubs I have!

There's a lot of wonderful kind, generous, knowledgeable, unselfish people in this world, and many of them frequent this Forum. Mr. E was one of the best of them. May he rest in peace and his family and friends be comforted by knowing what an Esteemed Gentleman he was. Well said Fellow Cubbers, I miss him too.

I've enjoyed all the Cubfests I've attended, but that first DSCF was a personal best for me. The boys were with me and they had a great time. I have great memories of all my trips to Sneads and many encounters with Roy in Georgia and Ohio as well as his great shop. I am fortunate to now own what I believe was Roy's first Cub. Naturally, it's my favorite and I'm looking forward to making it even better in his honor.

I find myself remembering Roy, Mary and the DSCF on this weekend when we would have been there. Such fond memories of good friends and good times.
