Some Tractors at Orscheln's
Had a new Orscheln store Grand Opening this weekend in Blue Springs. Cloudy, windy and cold (expecting snow by tomorrow AM). We'd planned to attend anyway, but I was pleasantly surprised to see some tractors as I pulled into the parking lot. Felt sorry for the tractor club members huddled in a tent.

Nice. We have an Orscheins in Desoto, which is about 25 miles north of me. I wish stores like them, TSC, Rural King and Dickie Bubs will hold tractor shows, etc., since they're supposed to be catering to the owners of tractors, etc.

Wow, I guess I've not been in the area for awhile. I know that used to be the old Price Chopper grocery store, recently. I'll have to stop by there sometime soon. Thanks Stanton!

There is an Orschein in my original home town and in Jefferson City, Mo. Both stores were initially filled with ag supplies. Now seems to be stocked with urban property owners supplies
I have an excuse. CRS.

They call it marketing. Serves their bottom line better.

Re: Some Tractors at Orscheln's
Our Orschlen's store had a tractor show a couple years then quit, manager apparently doesn't want to bother with it! Store is only two miles form home now, but they've bought the land to build a new, bigger store just over a mile from me. Hopefully with more room they'll start having yearly shows again!
There are othe stores in the area that have shows, but they don't publicize when the shows are going to happen very well!

There used to be several small shows around our town but they are gone. They say the insurance got to expensive to keep having them.

Some tractor clubs have insurance, but you have to be a member then to show on some clubs. The TSC in Union, Missouri usually hosts the Mo-1 Two Cylinder Club's show in May, which is also open to all brands.

The TSC about 4 miles from us, if they had a tractor show people would pitch a fit cause the tractors in the way. It's changed big time around us.

The same with IH Collector's Club in each state. They carry insurance along with membership to cover any accidents. This show last weekend was by the Three Trails Tractor Club, so I'm assuming they carried some insurance.

Re: Some Tractors at Orscheln's
I wouldn't go straight to "doesn't want to bother with them," as there are a lot of factors involved aside from the store manager just being "MEAN."
It's likely not out of malice or laziness. More likely due to insurance costs, public pressures, and/or lack of interest either internally or externally. If you can't get any help from the other employees, why bother?
One local TSC near me used to have yearly tractor shows too. A whopping THREE tractors would show up. In a farming community nonetheless. Why bother?

Re: Some Tractors at Orscheln's
I would agree, insurance and participation, or lack thereof, plus possible interference of normal business operations and parking issues, would tend to steer some store managers/owners away from holding tractor shows. But, I see car shows popping up at fast food restaurants and other business establishments.

Re: Some Tractors at Orscheln's
I know this manager personally, she doesn't want to bother! I inherited a small tractor show here a few years ago, insurance was covered by higher ups. Finally dropped it from lack of interest & competition from a bigger, well established show about 70 miles away. I attend several north MO shows each year & interest is declining. If it doesn't have push buttons & batteries, many of the younger generations aren't interested!
I do host a "Garden Tractor Trail Ride" each fall at my farm, not a big affair, but gets some attendees from 80+ miles away. Any small tractors welcome. I'll post in the "tractor Show Announcements" section when I decide on a date, probably in early October!
