Rusted Track pads

Postby Dusty B » Sun Apr 29, 2018 7:06 am

Just brought home a JD 450 bucket dozer - has several frozen (rusted) track pads! Would welcome any suggestions on best way to free them up! Have started soaking them w/PB Blaster! Also going to need Hydraulic hoses - know JD ones w/be gold plated! any suggestions for reasonably priced source? Hope to get it usable ASAP! Thanks, Dusty B

Our Napa and Autozone both make up hydraulic hoses. You may have a hydraulic repair shop near you that would also do them. Just take in the old ones so they can match the length and fittings.

I've had some success freeing the pads by rolling the track forward or backward to the end where it makes the turn and hammer on the pad as turns over the sprocket. Works better if you can get the track to clear the ground. Custom made hoses should not be a problem, take your old one to a place that makes hoses. Good Luck.
