Pull Combine
Looking for a PTO driven pull combine in usable condition! Closer to central IL the better. Dad had an Allis 60 that did a good job - but I am color blind! Seen a few on CL but a ways from home. Have some scouts out checking for me. Need something for my wheat for next summer! Would even trade one of my Cubs for the right unit. Welcome any leads and w/probably be looking for help if/when I find something. Dusty

What tractor are you going to use it with? Personally I'd look for an IH 80 or 82 but I'm partial....

Re: Pull Combine
Not familiar with the Allis 60 unless it is what I used to call the sideways combine. There used to be quite a few of those years ago. I liked dads Massey Clipper. It could be run by the H but the M was the prefered power since a higher gear could be used. You didn't say what HP would be available. Vern

If you were closer I know where 2 or 3 of these are sitting in sheds. One guy had them all and passed away about 4 years ago. You could get them cheap I bet.

There are a couple archive pics of a Cub pulling a 52R. I live on flat ground. I tried it. Made it to the end of the drive way and turned around!

A JD A would work well. I pull mine with a Super A and it does fine until the ground gets a little wet. A Farmall M, H, JD A, B, etc. are heavy enough to power on through!

You might find you really enjoy something that "big." One of the key drawbacks to a pull type is in opening up the field and you can't lay off "lands" when you are harvesting without running over some of your crop.
The only caution I will give you (pretty much true with any older combine) is to be mindful of parts availability, or (and) have a good machine shop on retainer. You shouldn't have too much trouble with replacing belts ( https://www.jdv-belts.com/ is a good source if caseIH comes up with nothing) bearings, chains, etc.
When I was growing up in the 80s we had one neighbor that had an IH combine and it was a 203. Everybody at that time owned a MF, second place was JD and third (almost second) place was Gleaner. At that time we had a MF 300 and as small as the 300 was, the 203 was tiny!
Keep us updated....

AT ONE TIME we had three gleaner dealers in our area. Good combine but you need dealer for parts and service within a reasonable distance.
