Don't bother. It needs to be level with the plow lowered and the right and tail wheels in furrows. Raised, on flat ground, is meaningless.

Well I just meant to check if maybe the beam is bent or something wacky I just meant more as a straight edge than a level.

If you want some fun, be pulling that trip rope to raise the plow when it catches a rock and breaks away. It is amazing how long your arm can get before your mind tells you to let go.

 I’ve heard about that, in fact a guy tore his seat off because he used some sorta 800 pound para cord and had no release mechanism I think it was on a super a and however the seat was attached was so rotted it failed.this happened on my buddy’s farm and his dad had a hell of a time running after the tractor and hitting the ignition.

Local fella using an H or M, don't remember which tied the rope to the seat using the heavy baler string for the older balers. He only weighed around 160 pounds or so and when the trip opened it pulled the seat quite a ways down before the string broke. Almost launched him over the steering wheel. Wish I ha a video of that.

Dad had welded a tab on the front of the plow clevis (twisted clevis), and attached a screen door spring to the tab and the front of the swinging drawbar so it would always be pointed to the rear after a break away. He had also mounted a handle on a pivot with a spring on the front and rear, that enabled the operator to hitch up without getting off the tractor. Sure was handy in our rocky clay.

So I’m not sure I have enough traction to actually disconnect the plow I’ve hit a few rocks while testing it And it stopped me dead but the tires spun although I have wheelied the the H skidding logs so maybe it was the ground I have one set of rear weights and front weights but I have another set of rears, I just wanna make sure the trip actually works, the plow it still in it’s current rusty state so I’m not sure if it’s stuck or if it can even be stuck, the hook wiggles a bit but I’m still clueless as to it’s operation.

I doubt it'd be stuck hard enough to not trip if it needs to.

I've done a little plowing with an H that has a single set of rear weights and a John Deere 2-14 plow. The only time the plow tripped off is when another operator dropped the clutch (he just cannot seem to feather a clutch!). We did manage to get wheel spin while plowing without it tripping off.

Ok good, I was kinda worried about that if i was plowing and my tires for some reason has more traction than normal I’d flip backwards, for all my tests I have had my foot hovering over the clutch just in case.

That looks much better than the picture you first posted. Boy, your soil sure doesn't want to break up!

How about a picture of a dead furrow? That will give us a better idea how deep you're plowing. (A dead furrow is one where you haven't rolled soil from another pass into it.)

My hands are fairly large so I reckon it’s around 7-8 inches deep

Soil tests to see if you need for amendments.

Winter may break up some of the soil ridges. Early spring rock picking up time.

I like forage radish to break up the soil and provide green manure.
I have an excuse. CRS.
