IH H-50

Postby SONNY » Thu Mar 18, 2021 12:52 pm

Went over to not far from Potosi MO. with neighbor to get this loader. Interesting 11 hour round trip!
I had to drive the loader a mile from his shed to get to the road then down a 500 foot very steep drop off in his driveway to get down to the road to load it on the trailer----NO way in heck of getting out with it on the trailer. Hill was steep enough to over power the brakes, so I dropped the bucket and put a little down pressure on it to help get stopped by the time I got to the bottom, and skated to a stop right at the road. Fun times that day! lol!
Didnt know Johns addy or would hav made a detour to visit him!

any way pics of the loader ---its IH and I love it! ( actually Hough but IH took them over)!

Wish I had known you were coming, I would given you my address, or at least met you there. The back ground looks to be south of Potosi, the terrain around Potosi is not that level. LOL
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

You were also close to me as well. I live about 8 miles east of Potosi, and I have visit John's place often. For those who aren't aware, Potosi was founded by Moses Austin, who later founded Austin, Texas. He is buried in Potosi, and from what I have been told when I was in school way back when, a group came up from Texas to try and steal Moses and take him back to Texas. This was supposedly around 1920. The were caught.

Another interesting fact, Potosi almost became the state capitol of Missouri, but it wasn't centrally located enough. St. Charles was also considered, if I remember my Missouri history correctly.

I haven't been, I guess it's a bit too close, and expensive, but Bonne Terre Mines is a good place to visit. St. Joe is also another place to visit. Again, I haven't been, but I do frequent the St. Joe State Park to use their trails to walk.
