grease bolt for hay wagon steering source?

Postby inairam » Fri May 07, 2021 5:33 pm

I am working on some running rear I bought a few years ago. It was obviously run into something but I liked the wheels.

The tie bars are bent as are the grease bolts. I can not find ones this short. I looked at McMaster carr, napa and etrailer and a few other places but all are 3-4 inches long

Does anyone have a source?

I looked at my other hay wagon, it has a different style but still short.

Could you cut one shorter and rethread it at the length you need?

Or, using bolts that are the correct length, drill and tap for the zerk fitting.

It would probably be easier to make one than find one with the correct dimensions. Drill down through the bolt to the proper depth and drill an intersecting hole at the correct location to provide the grease at the joint. Tap the hole and install the zerk.

Even if you could find then, the individual price(s) appears to be high.

Agree with the other guys. Guessing you only need 4 grease bolts, make them.
I have an excuse. CRS.
